FA Charter Standard Community Club
  • The F.A News

The FA has unveiled the National Game Strategy Refresh, following on from the original four year strategy that was launched in 2008.

The new four year plan is a £200 million investment into grassroots football from 2011-2015, a strategy extension and a key business milestone for The FA.

Approximately 25,000 people from the football family were consulted to determine the key FA priorities over the next four years, including the National Game Board, County FA’s, schools and the members of the Big Grassroots survey.

  • James Harper

Did you know that James Harper, currently of Hull City used to Play for Woodham Radars.

James left Radars to join Arsenal but could not break through to the first team.

He then went on to play for Reading and Sheffield Utd before joining The Tigers in January 2010.

The club was formed in 1972 to provide football for the youngsters of South Woodham Ferrers and became the first youth football club in the town.  A club name had to be agreed on, and this came out of the Marconi radar station situated on the outskirts of the village

The club originally provided football for the under 8s to under 16s, but as the town grew and the under 16s had nowhere to go this was extended to 18 year olds.

The club expanded as players got older and we extended our activities into junior, girls and mens football. Then in 2009 the club were awarded the FA status of Charter Standard. In April 2011 the club was presented the FA Charter Standard Community Club Award on the pitch at Colchester United FC.

Our aim is to encourage the youngsters of the area to develop their skills of  "the beautiful game" and would be pleased to hear from any prospective players from ages 5 to 50 ..............
